Matthew Judon claims he's ready to go after suffering season-ending injury in 2023

The New England Patriots lost a key team member last season at a time when they couldn't afford it.

Judon played just four games for the Patriots during their 2023 campaign before he tore his bicep and was forced to sit out for the remainder of the season. However, after some time off and a lot of focus on his recovery, the linebacker said that he is completely ready to go.

“Got to surgery and it started healing really fast,” Judon said on Good Morning Football. “I was trying to come back. But I didn’t get to come back this year. I got a lot in store next year.”

“We’re just working hard to get back all the strength and flexibility, and we’re there now,” he added. “It’s been a long time. So for that, I’m doing well.”

And the linebacker went into even greater detail when explaining what things were like in the locker room after he sustained the injury.

“I felt like like a rubber band hit me. Pow,” Judon said. “I was like, ‘Damn.’ It was really hurting for a minute. I can’t really bend it.”

“The worst part is trying to get the pads and jersey off,” he added and he was then asked by Co-host Kyle Brandt if the trainers could have cut it off of him instead.

“No, we still took it off,” Judon said. “I think if it’s broken or dislocated, they do it. They’re like, ‘It’s your biceps.’ So we took it off.”

And even after all that, Judon still had one thing left to do.

“I had to shower,” Judon said. “So I was showering, then couldn’t use my right hand. So I was all lefty.”

Judon has been incredible for the Patriots since joining in 2021 and received a contract adjustment prior to the 2023 season, earning $14 million fully guaranteed with no additional years added.

In 2022 he put up his best season, finishing with 60 total tackles, 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three passes defended.

Before getting injured this past season, he already had four sacks in four games, along with 13 total tackles.

So let's see what he does next season.
