The Indianapolis Colts defense showed on Sunday why you always play until the whistle.
Defensive lineman DeForest Buckner scored on a 26-yard fumble return when every other player on the field was completely unaware of what was happening.
With the Jacksonville Jaguars facing a first-and-20 in their own territory, quarterback Trevor Lawrence was hit just as he was about to release the football, sending it flying through the air. At first everybody seemed to believe it was an incomplete forward pass and initially stood around.
Everybody, that is, except for Buckner.
Buckner picked up the loose ball and rumbled down the field for a go-ahead score to give the Colts a 21-17 lead.
Have a look.

These two teams entered the season with completely opposite expectations. The Jaguars are the heavy favorites to win the AFC South for a second consecutive year, while the Colts are trying to break in a rookie quarterback (Anthony Richardson) and playing without their top playmaker on offense in running back Jonathan Taylor.
The Colts, however, have given the Jaguars everything they can handle.
